The Loch Lomond Arms is a 17th-century coaching inn in the conservation village of Luss, on lands held by Clan Colquhoun since the 13th century. Reimagined in 2026 with Russell Sage Studio, it carries eight centuries of family stories — and now writes yours into them.
The lands of Luss come to Clan Colquhoun, beginning eight hundred years of family stewardship on the shores of Loch Lomond.
Sir John Colquhoun takes Dumbarton Castle by cunning — the staged hunt and fleeing stag of clan legend — and answers the call with the words that became the family motto: Si je puis. If I can, I will.
The coaching inn era. Travellers, drovers and mail coaches rest at Luss on the loch road — guests have slept in the oldest wing of this building ever since.
The Victorian estate years: Luss becomes one of Scotland’s most celebrated conservation villages, its cottages and pier drawing admirers from across the world.
The reimagining. With interiors by Russell Sage Studio, the inn reopens — handmade throughout, every room named for a Colquhoun, the family still at its heart.

For eight centuries, the Colquhouns have kept these lands: 45,000 acres of loch, glen and mountain, held under a motto won at Dumbarton Castle — Si je puis, If I Can.
The family remains at the heart of the Estate today, and their stories — racers, artists, adventurers and the odd scoundrel — live on in every room of the inn.
