Once upon a time, on the shores of Loch Lomond, there lived a young girl named Iona Colquhoun. Her world was one of mountains, glens, and open water, where deer wandered through the heather and every path seemed to lead towards a new adventure.

From an early age, Iona loved the outdoors. She learned to walk the hills, watch wildlife, and shoot with remarkable accuracy. In a generation when few girls were expected to handle a rifle, she quietly proved she could. As she grew older, she became an accomplished shot, competing at international level and earning admiration for her skill and determination.

But Iona was never content to explore only what lay above ground. Curious and courageous, she was drawn to the world beneath the water too. As a keen scuba diver, she discovered hidden places below the surface, bringing the same sense of wonder to the depths as she did to the Highland hills.

Years later, Iona became Duchess of Argyll. She travelled widely and saw much of the world, yet Scotland remained close to her heart. She became the first woman to lead the Keepers of the Quaich, carrying forward traditions she cherished throughout her life.

And if you stand quietly beside Loch Lomond as evening falls, you can almost imagine her still there — looking across the water, watching the hills darken in the fading light, and wondering where tomorrow’s adventure might begin.
