In this commission Richard uses a composite of material from historical portraiture, archival writings and maps, as he details the story of Patrick Colquhoun, the adventuring statistician whose work in creating the first river police to protect trade on the River Thames was a forerunner and inspiration to Robert Peel's work in developing what would become London's Metropolitan Police.
