Named After Our Neighbours
Across the 720-square-mile Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, the majestic Red Deer stags roam the moorlands and lower mountain slopes. During the autumn rut, mature stags can be heard roaring fiercely at challengers to their territory and hinds.

If you’d like to see one of the majestic local stags in the flesh, you can hike the slopes of Ben Lomond. If you head out during the autumn rut, listen for the eerie, echoing roars as they drift across the glens at dusk.
